Awhile ago, I replaced the old front end on my Oscar DA 900 with a new DA 1000 front end. What a difference that made! The DA 1000 saves me about 5kg of carrots per week.
I have been following a Gerson style juicing program since December 2008, when I first bought my Oscar. At the moment I am having 2 litres of juice per day, mainly carrot, down from 2.5 a few years ago when I started.
When the drum cap broke mid-juice, I whipped the old DA 900 front end out of the cupboard & carried on. The difference was immediately obvious. As well as less juice per carrot, the DA 900 needs more minding. Carrot pieces have to be manually pushed down the chute. With the new DA 1000, I can just drop them in, & they walk down the chute by themselves. Cutting & dropping moves along smoothly.
I would recommend anyone with an old DA 900 to update the front end. You will be surprised.

I am so impressed with my Oscar DA-900. It does a mighty fine fresh vegetable and fruit juice and it is so easy to clean afterwards. We have had it for at least 5 years and it has been used often and it is still going really well. I have had such fun and enjoyment with using the mincer attachment, and it has opened up a whole new avenue of healthy eating desserts for us all. I would like to share some of these recipes with you and they are all super quick to prepare.

Mango Sorbet: Place slightly frozen pieces of mango through the mincer... divine as it comes out like an ice-cream yet it is purely fruit. Coconut Dream: Break open a whole coconut and put the white flesh through the mincer. It comes out fluffy and is quite a treat. Can make extra and put it in the fridge.

Banana Chocolate Almond Square Bottom: 1.5 cup walnuts 1 ripe banana 15 medjool dates or 20 dried dates soaked in water Place these through the mincer and blend together, spread out in freezer proof container. Topping: 1 ripe banana 4 tablespoons almond butter. 4 tablespoons raw honey 1/4 cup cocoa. Blend together and spread over base. Put in freezer couple of hours.

Fruit Nut Crumble: 1/2 c sunflowers1/2 c dates1/2 c walnuts (can experiment and use any types of nuts, dried fruit). Mince together and add 1/2 t ginger powder and pinch sea salt. Place over top of 1.5 cups of feijoas/tamerillos or whatever fruit you choose, together with 2 cups of grated apple, 1/3 cup raisins, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, pinch clove powder, pinch sea salt. Before serving warm in a very low oven (100c) 1 hour.

Hi Tony, I received the drum cap today and will start using my Oscar again tomorrow. Thank you so much for the prompt postage and for being so helpful in giving the cap to us without charge.
I was devastated when it broke because we have used our little Oscar for the past year and a half every day. My husband has cancer and we decided to go completely natural in treating it. I juice 20kgs of carrots every week so our little Oscar runs for about 45 minutes every morning. My husband is slowly getting better, the cancer count is down and we are almost at the point where the cancer count is normal. Thank you so much for this little machine it truly has proved reliable and the juice is really delicious.
I have juiced most of my life with my own health issues, but have never owned an Oscar. I can quite honestly say that it is far superior to any other juicer I have ever owned.

I've lived in Hong Kong for over eighteen years I've always been interested in a healthy and balanced diet. Over the years I have tried several different juicers. I first discovered the OSCAR in use in a health food shop in Christchurch, New Zealand. The machine was highly prized by the owner who gave us contact details for the New Zealand agent. We purchased one soon after and brought it with us when we returned after our vacation.

It is of a robust design and construction. We find it technically superior in most aspects to other machines we've tried. Also, it is not a centrifugal device, which means it is a lot quieter during operation but, more importantly, all of the goodness is not spun out of the juice produced.

I'd most certainly recommend the OSCAR Juicer to anyone concerned for their feel good factor, their health and their well being. I juice celery, carrots and a small amount of ginger most mornings. It provides vitamins and natural salt (celery) enabling a very active life which includes golf several times a week in Hong Kong summertime temperatures which often exceed 30 degrees Celsius. It reduces dependence on commercial dietary supplements especially in high temperatures and humidity in addition to the antioxidants, vegetable juices also provide roughage which satisfies hunger pangs well into the morning.

I happily endorse this product to friends, associates and visitors to our home when they enquire about the 'contraption' that has a permanent place on our kitchen bench.

Apart from my 'breakfast tonic', I regularly juice 'in season' tropical fruits for the goodness they contain and as refreshing drinks.

Next trip to New Zealand it is my intention to purchase a unit each for our two sons, one based in Hong Kong, one based in New Zealand.

Determined this would not happen we began researching any alternative options and in doing so discovered the power of juicing and the benefits of using a 'good juicer'.

Hi Tony, I am thrilled with my Oscar! It is so quiet, so effective and so easy to clean. I have had two juicers previously, cheapies but they worked ok, I thought, and both lasted well past their warranty dates. But it was a major effort to clean them - they were impossible to clean properly - and as I can now see, did not extract nearly as much juice and left volumes of wet pulp. The green juice (parsley, rocket, kale, celery, apple and lemon) I made yesterday with the Oscar was a brilliant green, had no froth and tasted great. What is left this morning in the fridge is still brilliant green. Cleaning the machine really did take just two minutes. So thank you for your prompt and attentive service.
